We’re living through the most exciting technological shift of our lifetime. With artificial intelligence now at our fingertips, it’s possible to build apps, websites, and solutions to real-world problems—without needing a team of developers or a massive budget.
This is part two of our multi-part series on making money with AI, where I walk you through step-by-step how we’re using AI to create something impactful and income-generating from scratch. In this episode, we dive deep into the idea, the problem it solves, and how we’re going to build it—fast.
Welcome to Calorie Deficit Club.
Our mission is to make fat loss feel simple, supportive, and real. The idea is a peer-to-peer meal sharing app that empowers everyday people to stay in a calorie deficit using visual guidance, AI insights, and community encouragement—with no pressure and no judgment.
We didn’t come up with this idea in a vacuum. It’s the product of deep community conversations, real-world problems, and brainstorming using our custom GPT assistant.
Through our community and user research, we uncovered four core problems that many people struggle with during their weight loss journey:
“I don’t know what to eat.”
Newcomers often feel stuck. They need ideas for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and drinks—but don’t know where to begin.
“I feel judged.”
Sharing meals online can open the door to criticism. People get unsolicited advice or negativity, which kills motivation.
“Tracking is exhausting.”
Manually weighing food, logging calories, and searching for items in databases is time-consuming and mentally draining.
“I feel like I’m doing this alone.”
Many people crave a supportive, private, and encouraging community that shares the same goals.
These are the real problems we’re solving. AI isn’t the product—it’s the enabler. The goal is to present actual solutions, powered by the speed and intelligence of AI.
The Calorie Deficit Club is a peer-to-peer meal sharing app where real people post real meals that helped them stay in a calorie deficit.
It’s not about professional chefs, fancy diets, or rigid plans. It’s about normal people sharing real food, supported by AI-powered insights and a positive community.
We’re focused on making the experience:
Simple: Snap a photo, get instant feedback.
Visual: No endless food logs—just clarity at a glance.
Human: No AI-generated food photos or bots pretending to care. Real people, real progress.
Here’s what the AI can do:
Photo Analysis: Take a photo of your meal or shopping haul and get an instant calorie estimate, macro breakdown, and a judgment-free answer: “Is this deficit-friendly?”
Smart Feedback Tags: AI assigns labels like “Deficit Friendly” to meals, reducing peer judgment and building user confidence.
Instant Meal Inspiration: Tap a button and get AI-curated meal ideas based on real shared meals.
Grocery Insights: People can share shopping hauls with location, cost, and calorie-smart options—creating a bank of real, affordable ideas.
All of this is possible just from a photo. That’s the power of conversational, accessible AI.
To ensure the app gets better with every user, we’re designing it with a flywheel model:
The more people share meals and hauls, the more ideas and data are available for others—making the app exponentially more useful.
Just like the first mobile phone wasn’t useful until others got one too, this app thrives on community-powered content. Every photo, every share, every comment makes the experience better for everyone.
We’re now moving into Episode 3, where we’ll build the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) using AI-powered tools like Lovable. The goal is to launch quickly, validate, and grow based on feedback.
Our MVP includes:
Uploading and analysing meal photos
Tagging meals as “Deficit Friendly”
Sharing meals with the community
Uploading shopping hauls with basic insights
It’s not about perfection—it’s about speed and usefulness. The sooner we launch, the sooner we learn what works.
This is just the beginning. If you’re following along, now is the time to think about your own app ideas. What problems can you solve? What’s your MVP?
We’re documenting every step so you can see how to go from idea → build → revenue using the power of AI.
Thanks for joining me on this journey. Please give the post a like, subscribe if you haven’t already, and I’ll see you in Episode 3 where we start building the future of weight loss support.
